Forrest Foodies & Adventures
Breakfast at the Forrest Brewery. Local products feature on the menu.
Head over to the Forrest General Store and stock up on some walking snacks and drinks. Make sure you nab a slice of home made caramel slice or one of the delicious cakes made in the store. The store made pies and sausage rolls are worth driving miles for! Put your walking shoes on and head to Lake Elizabeth. Walk around the lake at your own pace. Round trip will take around an hour and a half.
An afternoon walk to Stephenson’s Falls is an easy walk after the morning excursion to the lake.
For a well deserved thirst quencher, finish off at the Terminus Hotel for a drink with the locals and delicious pub meal.
On site accommodation at The Forrest Guesthouse is available in beautifully restored suites. Alternately, a short ten minute drive away you can enjoy your own safari style inspired cabin overlooking the Otways at Otway Fields in Gerangamete. Here you are treated to a gourmet breakfast basket filled with farm grown and sourced organic foods from the region.
BYO bike and challenge yourself to one of the many bike trails around Forrest. Visit www.rideforrest.com.au for more trail info.
It’ll be lunch time by now – head into Platypi Chocolate Cafe, open 10 – 5, 7 days a week. And don’t leave without trying (and Insta’ing) the authentic french hot chocolate!
If you love an adrenalin rush, then spend the morning zip lining through the trees at Trees Adventure in Yeodene, 15 minutes North of Forrest, 5 minutes from Otway Fields. www.treesadventure.com.au for further details.
